As with all responsible businesses, we’ll do our best to safeguard the privacy of our website users – and you’ll rightly expect us to do that.

When you use our website, you agree to this policy and consent to our use of cookies in the ways we tell you about below.

How we use and retain your personal data

We’ve identified three groups of users who we expect to use our platform:

1. Anonymous visitors.
2. Content contributors – schools posting adverts.
3. Gifters – people providing gifts.

All users

Because we’re interested in making our website better by understanding which pages are popular (and which are not) and how long people spend on our site we process “usage data” which tells us about your visit and how our website was used.  This data may include your IP address, referral source, how long you stayed, what pages you looked at and how you navigated through our site.

We use Google Analytics to store and process this data.  Any information recorded is all anonymised and we don’t know who “you” are.  As this data is stored by Google Analytics (and not us) it’s therefore subject to their own data retention policies.

If you want to get in touch with us, we’ve put a web form on our site to make it easy for you to do this.  Email works equally well and we call this information “enquiry data”.  We won’t use the information you send us in an enquiry to offer, market or sell products or services to you.  We’ll just reply to your communication and keep your email(s) on our system.  We like to have a written trail of any enquiries, and we can then refer to those emails if needed.  We won’t put your email address in a correspondence database or CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system.

Content contributors

If you sign up to use our platform to post adverts, we’ll store information including (but not limited to) your school’s name, email address, telephone number, and postal address.  We call this information “business data” as it can be used to identify a school or business but not an individual.  We may use this information to contact you (1) about your account, (2) about any adverts that you post or (3) to make general enquiries as to the effectiveness of our platform in meeting your needs.  We won’t use this information to offer, market or sell products or services to you.

We’ll store this information securely on our website and permanently delete it if your account is closed or removed from our site.

Gifters

If you agree to provide gifts to school – either by donating them or by purchasing them – we ask you for a name, contact telephone number and/or email address so that the school can contact you if they have any questions about your gift.  We call this information “personally identifiable data”. 

We won’t use this information to offer, market or sell products or services to you.

We’ll store this information securely on our website and permanently delete it once the advert you responded to is removed from the website.

Providing your personal data to others

We don’t usually pass your personal data on to third-parties for any reason, except in the situations described below.

When we have to, we may pass your personal data on to our professional advisers including book-keepers and accountants.  We’d only do this when necessary to help us manage risks, obtain professional advice and manage any legal disputes.

We may also process your personal data where it’s necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which we’re subject, or in order to protect your interests or the interests of others.

Amendments

If we choose to update this policy, we’ll publish a new version on our website and will change the ‘last updated’ date to show this.  You should check occasionally to make sure you’re happy with any changes.

Your rights

Some of the rights you have under data protection law are complex, and we’ve not included the details of those rights in this policy.  You should read the relevant laws and guidance from the regulatory authorities for a full explanation of these rights.

Third-party websites

Our website includes hyperlinks to, and details of, third party websites.  We have not built them, do not host them, and have no control over (and are not responsible for) the content, privacy policies and practices of third parties.

Updating information

It’s your responsibility to ensure that any personal data that we hold about you is correct.  For those users with accounts, we’ve provided a way for you to update this yourselves. If you don’t have an account, or are having trouble updating this information for yourselves, please contact us.
